participate in the MAC21 Unconference.
What is MAC21?
The MAC21 Project – “Making Arizona Competitive: 21st Century Infrastructure” – has
been initiated by the Arizona Chapter of the American Planning Association to provide
a forum for a state-wide discussion of how the Arizona economy can and must be
changed to make Arizona more competitive in the 21st Century Global Economy. This
discussion focuses on the “infrastructure” that must be in place to make Arizona livable
today and sustainable in the future.
What is an Unconference?
The Unconference is an innovative planning tool that will provide an opportunity for
participants to identify and prioritize 21st Century Infrastructure and set forth the
role/responsibility that planners have to help put the infrastructure in place. This
will be achieved through focus group discussions regarding different infrastructure
components. The product of the Unconference will be a statewide strategy and the
“MAC21 Community Toolkit,” which will serve to assist communities achieve their
goals for livability and long term sustainability.
